So about me….

I’m Mark Brown, I live in London and Rule O’ Thirds is a gallery, blog, musing space and project area.

I’ve been taking photos on and off for most of my life and I love making or taking photos. It seems every time I shoot there’s something new to learn, to give a go or puzzle out

Now working in digital I originally shot on 35mm film and have occasionally dipped into 6×6 & 6×7 medium format and 4×5 inch large format. Working upside down on large format monorails and using a tape measure is an interesting exercise in photography but definitely one with benefits.

I’ve studied photography both at college and university and I’ve ranged between street, portraits and wildlife photography (which you won’t see much on here as I haven’t scanned the transparencies). The courses were fun they taught me a lot but just as much has come from working in a studio and lots of time spent reading the internet, listening to others, thinking and having a go.

About the site….

I started this site to display my images in a way I couldn’t find on commercial sites. Don’t think I’m dissing Flickr and the like, I’m not, I like it andI have a stream but I don’t necessarily want to post everything in a timeline format. This current incarnation is the latest in a long line of experiments and it will probably change as I learn more. Considering it’s built on wordpress and from freely available plugins it’s not bad…the galleries could do with a little work though, if anyone has a suggestion for the perfect gallery plugin let me know.

Besides using the site to showcase images and projects there’s a bit of a blog which I update when I have something to say, also known as inflicting my writing upon the world, and there’s the Chunky Soup photoblog where I post a selection of street photos taken on my travels around London.

That’s about it. If you have anything to say leave a comment or send a message.

Cheers

Mark
